Christ The King Anglican Church is an outgrowth of a group of Anglican Churches based in
Anderson, Indiana known as St. Michael the Archangel. St.Michael’s has a strong church
planting ministry. Fr. Tom Tirman, then Rector (Senior Pastor) of the group served as the first
rector at Christ The King, with Fr. Michael Henry as the onsite vicar.
Our first home was a former beauty shop in Arnold Court. The St. Michael
leadership, volunteers, and our own original core group put a lot of loving effort into
transforming this rental facility into a church, and it served us well until November, 2013,
when half of Arnold Court was devastated by a tornado.
We were “nomads” for a time, first meeting in member’s homes, then at St. Joseph
Hospital for three weeks, and then at the IUK Observatory Lecture Hall for three
months; before finding a wonderful home in a shared facility with Christ Lutheran
Church in April, 2014.
Christ The King has enjoyed the joyful privilege of sharing in the raising up, training,
and sending out of people for ministry. Including the ordination of two priests and one deacon.
Several others have made invaluable contributions to Christ The King, and then felt
called to other churches and ministries as well. We rejoice that we’re a part of the
Kingdom of God in so many places, and in many ways; while we continue to welcome
those who are called to worship, serve and fellowship with us, as we grow in loving God
with all that we are, and loving others with His love.
